Nội dung phim

Bộ phim lấy bối cảnh cuộc chiến giữa hai phe: Naturals (con người bình thường, sống trên Trái Đất, đại diện là Liên Minh Trái Đất - Earth Alliance) và Coordinators (những con người được chỉnh sửa gen để vượt trội hơn, sống trên các thuộc địa không gian, đại diện là PLANT - ZAFT). Câu chuyện xoay quanh Kira Yamato, một Coordinator sống ở Orb, bị cuốn vào chiến tranh khi ZAFT tấn công thuộc địa Heliopolis. Trong lúc hỗn loạn, anh vô tình trở thành phi công của Strike Gundam - Mobile Suit tối tân của Liên Minh Trái Đất. Kira buộc phải chiến đấu chống lại ZAFT, nơi mà người bạn thân từ nhỏ Athrun Zala đang chiến đấu. Cả hai bị đẩy vào cuộc xung đột, buộc phải đối mặt với lý tưởng, tình bạn và chiến tranh khốc liệt.
